1 August 2008

Following the Federal Government’s decision on 1 April 2008 not to continue funding for the OPEL broadband network, (a 50:50 joint venture between Elders and Optus), together with the anticipated outcomes of the National Broadband Network, Elders determined there was no longer scope for it to offer a telecommunications service moving forward.

Accordingly, the decision was made to close Elders’ retail broadband and internet operations and to transition the existing customer base to other Internet Service Providers.

During the search for alternative providers, Elders Communications worked to ensure that the service obligations to its customers continued to be met and that customers would experience a smooth transition to their new provider.

As of 1 August 2008, Elders broadband Satellite and dial-up customers will be serviced by Harbour IT. Customers requiring broadband satellite or dial-up service or support from this date please visit: www.harboursat.com.au or call 1800 384 357.
